An Appeal from the Heart
By Dr. K. Jayamma, MBBS, DGO | Former MLA Founder & President–OASIS Welfare Organization
My dear children,
As I sit quietly and reflect on the journey of my life—from a little girl born in Tangutur, who dared to dream beyond the boundaries of our village, to becoming a doctor, a people's representative, and above all, a lifelong servant of society—I am overwhelmed with gratitude.
I was the first girl in our village to step outside for education, a choice that once raised many eyebrows. But that very decision led me to deliver over one lakh lives into this world as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist.Through my hands generations have come into being—grandmothers, mothers, and daughters, all born in the same humble hospital room.I have watched you grow, not just in years but into remarkable human beings—doctors, engineers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and public servants. You are the heartbeat of my journey. You are not just my patients—you are my children. My extended family.
And today,I write to you not as a doctor, but as a mother to thousands. A mother asking her children to walk beside her once more—this time, in service of those who have no one to call their own.
I am now 84years old,but my spirit to serve has never aged. Throughout my life— whether as a government doctor,a private practitioner,a Rotarian,an MLA blessed by the great NTR Garu, or through the OASIS Welfare Organization I founded in 2006—I have lived by one unwavering belief: Service is the highest form of worship.
Today,I have taken up what may be my final but most heartfelt mission—to build a permanent, loving home for abandoned elderly women, orphaned children, and to empower underprivileged women with self-employment opportunities. This home will not just be four walls and a roof. It will be a sanctuary—a place where forgotten souls are remembered, where pain is met with healing, and where loneliness is replaced by love. A place that gives them dignity, safety, and family. We are already running activities like Cancer Screening Camps, Medical awareness camps in schools (Save the Youth, Save their Future), Psychiatric seminars, organ donation awareness drives, Sanitary pad distribution to adolescent girls, Free tailoring training for women, Sewing machines for widows and single mothers, Tricycles for the differently abled.
But to truly bring this dream home to life, we need you—your support, your generosity, your love.
This is not just a donation request. It is a heartfelt invitation—to be a part of something that will outlive all of us. A legacy of compassion. A place where the values we hold dear will continue to shine.
To those who took their first breath in my hospital—I now ask you to breathe life into this mission.
Let us come together once more—not in a hospital room, but in the delivery of hope, dignity, and a future for the forgotten.
With love, blessings, and folded hands,
Dr.JayammaKandimalla
